Tycoon is Japanese rock band, UVERworld's ninth album as of this year. UVERworld is a mega popular band in japan because of their new direction on the rock gender. Their songs have been used in many media outlets in Japan such as anime, commercials, dramas, and films. A select few songs off of Tycoon follow suit in being used in media for promotion of the albums release. I'm not a huge fan of UVERworld to be honest. Its not their talent that has me on the fence but their overwhelming amount of music they have. This might sound funny to some. I just don't enjoy UVERworld in large douses. So you can imagine how I felt while listening to Tycoon. There's so many tracks for fans to enjoy. That is, until you listen to all eighteen tracks and half of the tracks sound like each other. Gosh, my body felt so tired by the time Tycoon finally got to the last song. The album has a pretty decent set of tracks that make you want to fist pump to the rhythm of the music. However, Tycoon plays on and on AND on, overloading on listeners that want an album with each track bringing a new piece of the band's artistry. Believe me when I tell you, UVERworld has a ton of artistry. Rock music isn't just rock music when it comes to these guys. Rock music becomes their own homeland when they compose. The boys continue to add electronica beats to their solid core of hard rock. Rap also makes an appearance in the band's music. I was very interested in the random saxophone playing during their songs. Surprisingly, the combination of sounds work well together to create a new kind of rock style.

Vocalist, Takuya sings like his voice wants to crack but he stops his voice from doing so. I used to think that his voice sounded like this due to inexperience. UVERworld has been around the music scene for awhile now though. I've come to the conclusion that his voice just sounds like that.

UVERworld's Tycoon was a little too much for me. Too many similar sounding tracks to digest. I do respect these boys talent for experimentation. I'm proud that the album did really well too. Tycoon got the #2 spot on the Oricon Charts during the album's first week of sales.
