AMYO -說破(Reveal) Mini Album Thoughts(Mandopop)

01. Pray For You
02. 說破
03. 秘密基地
04. Pray For You (English Ver.)

AMYO seems to be a duo of two girls that were doing their own covers on youtube before being signed to a label. Mando RnB Singer, J.Sheon has a hand in the girls music somewhat but I couldn't find too much information about AMYO online. Reveal is the girl's first mini album out of many more to come, hopefully. Maybe this is what you call mandarin indie music….. interesting.

Moving along, AMYO start the album with dance number titled Pray for you. They take it way back to the dance disc days with this track. Its a track that uses a lot of repetition to get the point across and sound like it was meant to be sung in English instead of Mandarin Chinese. The repetition is used in a catchy manner while the beat transitions from one rhythm to the other during certain parts. More so during the parts when they sing, "I'mma Keep On Loving You." These lyrics make me happy because they show a kind of defiance toward their guy of interest. They going to keep loving no matter what. Reveal(also the album's title) pretty much is a Pop RnB track that you might have found an American singer singing back in early 2005. The flow of the girls vocals here are precise to the movement of the beat. The chorus has a big enough edge to make you want to hear more too. From there, the album finishes up on club hype energy. Pray For You's english version proved the point of what I just said above but strangely felt like it didn't belong on the album. So we have the instance of the filler song[PLAYS DRAMATIC MUSIC].

AMYO's two vocalists sound like winter and summer. Summer contains super hot heat that can kill you. Then winter has deadly cold weather that doesn't seem too bad until the conditions slowly kill you. One girl has a deep vocal and she sings many of the lines leading up to the chorus. The other girl's voice is high pitched with strength. She sings the choruses. I like how one girl sounds like she's bad while the other sounds innocent. The thing is, she may sound cute but she's just as bad as the other girl. REAL BAD BITCHES[INSERT ME LAUGHING]!

I would like to learn more about AMYO. Either through more music releases or an interview. I'm not sure if I'm a fan just yet. Their music is promising though.

Drug Restaurant(드럭 레스토랑)- Pomade Mini Album Thoughts

Track List:
01. Don’t be afraid
02. Drink O2 in the water
03. Ain’t I good to you
04. Starved
05. Escaper
06. Catwoman

Jung Joon Young has come back full force with his band Drug Restaurant. The boys have decided to release a new mini album titled Pomade. Guessing this titled was inspired by good old lemonade? eh?Anyway, the huge change that took place during Pomade's production is that all the songs were written in English. Finding this new out made me excited to hear the album because I thought that having their songs in English would enhance Drug Restaurant's sound. My problems that existed when I wrote my post on Jung Joon Young's solo album still very much exist with the listening experience of Pomade. Drug Restaurant is too comfortable in their ways. In fact, they are so set in their ways that their music hasn't evolved at all. When they first debuted after Jung had his solo, these boys where a breath of fresh air. Them just jumping on the music scene in a crazy rock and roll fashion took South Korea by storm. From that point their music slowly started to lose it's dynamite flare. Each release wasn't horrible but these songs couldn't be held to the same standard of their debut. Same can be said about Jung Joon Young's first two mini albums. Both of them were really great listens then you have his third album that makes you wonder what the hell happened. I'm going to guess producers thinking about that damn cash cow must have been what happened. Pomade doesn't have that strong creativity to make a solid impact on listeners either. I got bored listening to the same old eighties rock genera that you can get out of a jukebox at a diner for fifty cents. Ain't I Good To You and Catwoman could easily be translated into Korean and put on Young's first or second albums. I did liked these tracks solely for the familiarity of the style that was on the band's first album before the name change. Drug Restaurant singing in English did absolutely nothing for me. I thought that I would love this style choice until I actually heard Pomade. The album doesn't sound better or worse either way. Probably would have sounded the same in Korean to me.

I have the same problems I had before with Jung Joon Young's vocals. He keeps playing it safe, not trying to challenge his voice vocally. In the past, Young has tried to test his vocals by hitting higher notes above his normal range. I know he has a hard time singing higher notes but I hope he expands his vocal range in the future. You have already shown us that you can do it dude.

Pomade was a little disappointing. One good thing about this album was that Drug Restaurant seems to be in control of the music they want to perform.  I always have respect for artists that do their own thing regardless of CD sales.

UVERworld - TYCOON album Thoughts(J-rock)

01 TYCOON
02 Q.E.D.
03 シリウス
04 SHOUT LOVE
05 IDEAL REALITY
06 LONE WOLF
07 DECIDED (album ver.)
08 PRAYING RUN
09 ALL ALONE (album ver.)
10 一滴の影響 (album ver.)
11 ほんの少し
12 僕の言葉ではない これは僕達の言葉 (album ver.)
13 WE ARE GO (album ver.)
14 Collide
15 奏全域
16 I LOVE THE WORLD
17 エミュー
18 終焉

Tycoon is Japanese rock band, UVERworld's ninth album as of this year. UVERworld is a mega popular band in japan because of their new direction on the rock gender. Their songs have been used in many media outlets in Japan such as anime, commercials, dramas, and films. A select few songs off of Tycoon follow suit in being used in media for promotion of the albums release. I'm not a huge fan of UVERworld to be honest. Its not their talent that has me on the fence but their overwhelming amount of music they have. This might sound funny to some. I just don't enjoy UVERworld in large douses. So you can imagine how I felt while listening to Tycoon. There's so many tracks for fans to enjoy. That is, until you listen to all eighteen tracks and half of the tracks sound like each other. Gosh, my body felt so tired by the time Tycoon finally got to the last song. The album has a pretty decent set of tracks that make you want to fist pump to the rhythm of the music. However, Tycoon plays on and on AND on, overloading on listeners that want an album with each track bringing a new piece of the band's artistry. Believe me when I tell you, UVERworld has a ton of artistry. Rock music isn't just rock music when it comes to these guys. Rock music becomes their own homeland when they compose. The boys continue to add electronica beats to their solid core of hard rock. Rap also makes an appearance in the band's music. I was very interested in the random saxophone playing during their songs. Surprisingly, the combination of sounds work well together to create a new kind of rock style.

Vocalist, Takuya sings like his voice wants to crack but he stops his voice from doing so. I used to think that his voice sounded like this due to inexperience. UVERworld has been around the music scene for awhile now though. I've come to the conclusion that his voice just sounds like that.

UVERworld's Tycoon was a little too much for me. Too many similar sounding tracks to digest. I do respect these boys talent for experimentation. I'm proud that the album did really well too. Tycoon got the #2 spot on the Oricon Charts during the album's first week of sales.

Tokyo Ghoul(東京喰種) Vol 1-14 Manga Thoughts

Tokyo Ghoul is a manga series created by Sui Ishida. The series was his debut and to date, has sold over twenty million copies. Volume 14 finally was released state side, slating the last volume of the original series. Japan has had numerous releases related to the series like video games, anime(which was released outside of Japan.), a spin off, and an upcoming live action film. You know about the novels already since they were released along side the manga in North America.

A young boy has ghoul parts implanted into his boy after having an accident with one. He his now the borderline in a war between humans and ghouls.

My experience reading Tokyo Ghoul in Manga form will be different from, lets say a reader who knew nothing about the series before picking up the first volume. Yeah… I got a head start on the series because of one of my friends telling me about the anime while it was airing in Japan. This isn't a bad decision for the people who want to watch the anime before reading the manga or just want to watch one and not the other. The anime follows the manga storyline mostly but doesn't keep every single detail that happened in the manga. sensor laws in Japan forced the anime to edit a few events. Could have been that the anime creators wanted to make it different from the original at least a little as well. I constantly heard people chatting about the manga being better than the anime. Don't listen to others, instead form your own opinion. A select few Otakus say anything to make themselves feel superior to other people. They're basically saying, "LOOK GUYS! I READ THE MANGA  BEFORE ANYONE ELSE! DON'T WATCH THE ANIME!". Anyway, The manga goes all over the place in fun destructive glory. I'm talking pain on top of pain that makes you flinch looking from one panel to the next. Pacing in the manga is planned out creatively between each volume. Ishida keeps readers engaged with a world that was never on the right path to begin with. Each character in this ghoul vs. human world brings a color of life for the reader to relate to. Its not about you even choosing who is the hero and who is the villain. Both sides have their own reasons to fight for survival. Also unlike the anime, Tokyo Ghoul the manga goes into more detail about the protagonist, Taneki's inner war within himself. I myself felt for him more in the manga while I wanted him to become stronger in the anime, so I didn't care too much about the life changing evolution he went through. Later volumes really become more about the other characters until Taneki drops in for a final time to kick ass. Heads up though, the ending of the anime and the ending of the manga are different….. VERY DIFFERENT. Please be ready for the unforgiving nature of the manga's plot. It does not spare reader's feelings one bit. I understood why the ending got to that point. That's what happens when you can't come back from the point of no return. Hyde(Taneki's friend) was much sharper in the manga too. Just something I noticed.

Tokyo Ghoul's art is done very differently from other series. You can see growth in Ishida's drawings as you read however, his work never be put in the same category of other's works. For one thing, the covers are eye catching in themselves if you look at them closely. Each volume contains a cover that looks like it was drawn with pastels originally. It gives the visual a blended look. Then in the inside of the manga, Ishida draws the character and locations with fine pencil. I always loved the bare feel of Tokyo Ghoul's presentation like nothing was crossing the line in order to be shown in this world. You don't ever forget the brutal honesty of character emotion that's draw in such a realistic what that you get scared. Action scenes also are drawn like the battles could leap off the page into reality. Some of Ishida's color pages always looked so mosaic to me. They almost belong in a church chapel somewhere.

I hope that Tokyo Ghoul:Re(The series's continuation.) and Tokyo Ghoul:[Jack] gets licensed for them to be brought over to the states soon. I know that they are probably both online but I don't read anything online unless I have to. I don't watch anime online much either if I can get my hands on a physical copy. Tokyo Ghoul is a very good manga for those who want gut wrenching action mixed with a good storyline and a rememberable cast of characters.

George Hu(胡宇威) - #Do Not Disturb Mini Album Thoughts(Mando-pop)

George Hu is a Taiwanese actor that was born in the USA(New York). I've actually seen quite a few of his dramas over the years. Mostly by chance because I was interested in Asian drama other than Korean drama when I was younger. He's grown up into the fine entertainer that I see before my eyes today determinately. He went from not knowing how to speak Chinese at all, to speaking enough to finally have his real voice heard on his dramas. In the beginning, his voice was overdubbed by a voice actor that could speak the language fluently. It wasn't always easy for him but he's still standing. #Do Not Disturb is George Hu's second album.

Track List:
01. Shut Up and Kiss Me
02. 請不要打擾我們的愛
03. 知道

#Do Not Disturb was a fun experience for me. The reason being that I didn't know that I was listening to an actor that I grew up watching kind of. I had a good laugh when I looked up his name to find out more about him. I didn't even know that he had debuted as a singer until after I listed to this album. Gosh, I'm so late to the party.. but Disturb kicks off with bubble gum pop number titled, Shut Up and Kiss Me. The track's lyrics are sung completely in English along with a clap, stop your feet beat that sounds a little elementary. This still works for Hu as his voice fits the track well and the song doesn't enter into an annoying mediocore territory. My interest was peaked enough for me to listen all the way to the end without pressing skip. Key dynamic here was that they track was catchy, plus I liked the "take charge attitude" in the lyrics. I Know(知道) was my favorite track on the album. I'm a sucker for ballads that connect with me during listening. Its not that this song is the best ballad in the world. More than that, its just to the point of having a song where the singer is singing a good melody that you can remember and sing along to. It's Such a settle song in the beginning which builds up using a full band of guitars and drums. After that track, Listeners get the chance to rock out a bit. George randomly gets loud on us all. He comes off as a singer performing music that he enjoys now. I read that he was in a band too so i'm sure this sound is influenced by that past.

Hu's vocals are pretty boy vocals. I don't know if I have used this terminology in a previous post. [INSERT ME LAUGHING]. LOOK AT THE GUY, He's totally good looking and his high pitched voice matches his face. He can sing good enough to qualify a singer. I'll give him that. Nobody is riding off of his looks here. Not George….. There's a ton of actor turned singer type of guys in Taiwan though.

#Do Not Disturb was a good little three track album. I'm not sure if I wanted more from him. This might have been enough music from him for right now. Don't want Mister Hu to over stay his welcome.

Taeyang(태양) - WHITE NIGHT Album Thoughts(K-pop)

Track List:
01. 白夜
02. WAKE ME UP
03. DARLING
04. RIDE
05. AMAZIN`
06. 텅빈도로 (EMPTY ROAD)
07. NAKED
08. 오늘밤 (TONIGHT) (Feat. ZICO)

Taeyang's music was a big part of my preteen years. His Hot and Solar albums still resonate with me because of the strong impact that these albums made on the Korean music industry at the time. Big Bang was ruling the charts back then too so Taeyang was in prime form with more to prove as a solo artists. After Big Bang made their mark as Kings in the Korean music world, Taeyang still continued to release solo works. I have to admit to losing  interest in Taeyang and Big Bang's musical style changes over the years. Eyes, Nose Lips, wasn't a bad song as It topped the Korean real time chart for almost four weeks three years ago. I just wasn't blown away by the sellout ballad. White Night has had a sudden release before Taeyang has to do his military service, in a time When Idol Kpop as a whole is still staler than Kimchi on a good day.

White Night had zero expectations coming from me after watching the two music videos that were released with the album. Both tracks, Don't Wake Me Up and Darling were weak at best. Darling was written and produced by legend, Teddy Park which is apparent by the strong locked in melody. This song is a good ballad but still very weak in comparison to Teayang's older music that showcased a willingness to top each song that he sang with the next one. Good qualities about Darling are that the song is written perfectly for Taeayng's vocals. The way he hits the chorus really connects with the listener. I've grown to like Darling while Wake Me Up bothers me a little. This track doesn't build up to a point that can drive the track home. Instead it depends on the dance pop beat to further the song. Kinda similar to the rest of the album's tracklist. Teayang does great singing the song like it will lead to a big bright chorus then it doesn't…. Don't trick us veteran fans by using your pretty falsetto notes!!! The rest of White Night threw me for a loop even more. Alright, I'll admit that I had a little hope that the album contained at least one track that was for me. You know, for old time sake of what Taeyang used to be. Nope. White Night was all about YG entertainment getting that last buck before Taeyang makes his exit for three years. I'm not upset that Taeyang changed his style. I respect an artist's self expression but I don't like when an artist's music has no impact whatsoever. The bottom line is that this album is extremely weak. Please lets not base our thoughts off of fangirl or fanboy perspective of things. It doesn't matter that Taeyang is handsome, has blond hair, can dance, or is in Big Bang. My words are based sole on what I heard while listening to White Night the first time through.  My words are not to hurt Taeyang much less VIPs(I used to be a VIP way back). Think of my words as constructive criticism based on respect.

Frustrations about White Night not being a strong enough effort made me get slightly annoyed listening to Taeyang's vocals. I've never noticed how high and squeaky his voice can be at times. I think I didn't notice before because his songs were always fire before now. Taeyang's always been a pretty good singer. He is technically lead vocalist of Big Bang after all.

Darling was the best track on White Night in my opinion. You guys should know that I had good thoughts about Big Bang's last album. I'm just not feeling the technicality of some of the solo tracks that I've heard coming from the BB boys. G Dragon came out with a ballad that sounded like he wanted to prove that he could kind of sing. Taeyang's Darling is like another version of that song. However, Teayang's Darling sticks in the brain once you hear it a few times.

Sumika(すみか)- Familia Album Thoughts(J-rock/pop)

Tracklist:
1.Answer
2.春風
3.Lovers
4.KOKYU
5.Someday
6.アネモネ
7.ここから見える景色
8.ピカソからの宅急便 (Instrumental)
9.MAGIC
10.アイデンティティ
11.Summer Vacation
12.まいった
13.「伝言歌」
14.Door

Sumika is a band that I found while looking at the artists that landed in the top ten spot on the Japanese music charts a month or so ago. They formed together as a band in 2013 while also creating a sub unit band that only preformed acoustic songs. Many mini albums were released in the span of they careers until the release of their first full length album Familia. Who knows where their new found fame came from. Well, actually I have an idea of why they became so popular out of nowhere.

Familia comes across to me as a very Genki inspired musical album. These boys are defiantly a rock band but sometimes their hard hitting tracks take a seat in on the sidelines. My first dealing with their music let me know right away that their music will give you the good feels. I just wasn't expecting their album to be so should I say, "jolly". If you don't know what Genki style is, it's a certain mood that music has to make you feel happy and Japanese people absolutely love it. Sumika caters to Japanese signature love for Genki by whipping out the keyboard, then making their electric guitars as quiet as possible.(Heck, they had acoustic guitars by this time.) Think color decorated birthday parties where Sumika is the entertainment. Upbeat dance music fills the area as Sumika makes all who listen happy. They even really lay the happiness on thick with tracks featuring chorus that repeat the same phrase over and over again hoping to dig it deep within the confines of the listener's brain. A good thing about their Genki antics is that they perform this type of style like they were born to do it. Smiling can be contagious when looking at Sumika's frontman sing in such a gleeful manner. I don't hate their choice in direction at all however, Genki music isn't always for me. I'm only a fan of Genki when there's a little hint of precision or seriousness. At times, its a little too goofy for me. My ears did perk up to some of the happy tracks though. The second track of Familia called 春風 is where I stand up out my seat to head bang. Rock tracks like this remind me of the older Japanese rock bands that dominated anime opening theme songs a decade ago. Sumika's members play guitar hard on overdrive here. You almost think that they turned into another band. I've noticed that they have maybe a few other songs that bring out the beast every once in awhile. Including their Genki free acoustic numbers.

Vocals on Familia sound close to other bands in Japan that are popular right now. While listening to their vocalist, I think of Mr. Children, Flumpool, and a whole bunch of other J-bands. At lease they're better at singing together in harmony than a lot of other bands. Probably because they did a ton of acoustic sets during their career.

I'll sadly, more than likely scrap most of Familia except for the tracks that appeal to me. Sumika has a good business sense for making themselves appeal to the masses in Japan. I'm honestly not a super Genki loving kind of person so rock alternative suits them better for me.

PKCZ(R)( ピーケーシーズ) - 360° Chamberz Album Thoughts(J-pop)

I honestly didn't know who or what PKCZ was for the longest time. They've rose to fame over the last year because of the artists they have worked with. Those artists being inside the Exile Tribe family, JAY'ED and, Crystal Kay. Not that this is very surprising considering Verbal M-flo's involvement in the project. If you didn't know these artists are like a huge family to each other so when I found out that PKCZ was releasing an album, I was mostly excited for Crystal Kay and Verbal than the others. More Exile tribe is never a bad thing though.

CD[編集]

  1. PLAY THAT feat. 登坂広臣,Crystal Kay,CRAZYBOY
  2. Cult of Personality feat. EXILE SHOKICHI
  3. World is Yours feat. Crystal Kay, MIGHTY CROWN (MASTA SIMON&SAMI-T)
  4. X-RAY feat. 三代目 J Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE
  5. UNITY feat. DOBERMAN INFINITY
  6. Beauty Mark feat. 登坂広臣, SWAY
  7. T-REX feat. Crystal Kay, CRAZYBOY, ANARCHY
  8. CHAIN BREAKER (ALBUM Ver) feat. 登坂広臣, CRAZYBOY
  9. ROAM AROUND feat. GENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBE
  10. MIGHTY WARRIORS (ALBUM Ver) feat. AFROJACK, CRAZYBOY, ANARCHY, SWAY, MIGHTY CROWN (MASTA SIMON&SAMI-T)
  11. INTO THE CIRCLE feat. METHOD MAN (Wu-Tang Clan) , EXILE THE SECOND

360 Chamberz has feeling to be an album that was in production since last year. From Verbal shouting the year 2016 during a track to the variety of tracks that calls on different artists as features, this is one popping, lit, album. The members of PKCZ(Primal Knowledge Chamberz) lay down the beat for each track creatively while the vocalists work their magic. Its a pretty solid pop techno record infused with old school rap influence. Just listening to the instrumental shows me that these guys have talent to get you jumping by the time the chorus comes around. I also notice that the tracks make sure to pen point times when PKCZ boys have time alone to shine. Then there's times that the singers get their time to show their vocals. Sometimes both instances come together to give both parties a try making the track really breath life. Times when the DJ boys get less precise and more crazy comes during the album, undeniably creating a reliability to listeners of their music who want to let go without fear of other's opinions. Fans of Crystal Kay and Verbal M-flo's past collaborations will be overjoyed to hear them working together again. They vibe together like the two never stopped working together over the years.Verbal truly stepped out of semi retired mode to deliver bars that were fire, reminiscent of M-flo's old days on the throne. He used to barely rap on tracks only doing the bare minimum to qualify as a feature. Not to mention, how he wasn't rapping when PKCZ first hit the scene in 2015. I guess he got some inspiration from all the talent that he worked with to make this album possible. Exile The Second, Generations From Exile, and the first generation of Exile make appearances on 360 Chamberz respectively. The tracks they all performed on this album are in safe territory for them. These guys could sing/dance to the songs produced for them by PKCZ in their sleep. No doubt about it. Having such talented guys to give you just the right musical production to match your style helps a lot too. Crystal is really amazing on this album. Fans of Crystal's album called Vivid will fall in love with the tracks she sings on 360 Chamberz. Her voice sounds vibrant and free like nothing can stop her from reaching her goals. I believe this is why I wanted this project for CK and Verbal so badly. They are both at a time in their careers where they need a boast to get back in the public eye. Verbal's last solo album left a lot to be desired sales wise. On the other hand, Crystal Kay saw a major improvement in sales thanks to her collaboration with Amuro Namie. (Namie has revived a couple of artists careers. Gosh, hope you guys send her a fruit basket.) My problem with Crystal Kay's career in Japan is that she is constantly hitting a glass ceiling. Glass ceiling meaning limited success. Before you start, no. It's not because she's half black.(Side note: Her being Korean and Black actually helped her be successful in Japan in the early 2000s.) The main reason is because she isn't Japanese by blood and is considered foreign by many people in Japan even though she was born in Yokohama. CK constantly has to work harder than other artists to be recognized. The girl has a fanbase, don't get it twisted but she should be much bigger than she is right now. Keep moving girl. Your time is coming again. Continue to let your talent do the talking. Oh, one more thing! Please start doing more upbeat songs again. Ballads are good until you start doing too many. Sales aren't everything however, sales do decide a music artist's lifeline in the industry. Sorry for making this post about Crystal Kay…. Anyways, Method Man's feature on Into The Circle was the missing puzzle piece to creating wonderful music. THAT MUSIC BREAK AT THE END OF THE DAMN TRACK WAS LIFE!!! I TELL YOU LIFE! YA'LL BETTER GET YOURS! I SEE YOU PKCZ. Too proud of Elly(CRAZYBOY) also for stepping up his rap game. I honestly liked how he sounded better on the CD than I did when I heard him live on video. Always room for improvement.

Exile Tribe are the breadwinners on 360 Chamber because of the sole fact that they are idols. At least they have the talent to back up their popularity. Their vocals don't sound like normal boyish idols. They all sound like men that sing for the love. Can't forget their performers that dance all around the stage. 360 Chamberz is the perfect music for them to burn up the dance floor. Can't wait to see them do it sometime. All the other features that I can't remember off the top of my head brought more creativity to the album. Most of the tracks are Bops in my opinion.

PKCZ hit the number three position on the Oricon Chart, selling over 42,000 copies. A big achievement  for Verbal and Crystal Kay since their chart topping success years ago. I'm sure most of the Exile Tribe fan girls played no games in getting their copy from the local music store.

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya(涼宮ハルヒの消失) Anime Film Thoughts(2010)

Haruhi Suzumiya is a series that was hugely popular in Japan over a decade ago now. The series has spawned a two season anime along with a spinoff, manga, video games only released in Japan, then lastly, an animation film. At the time of the film's released in 2010, It was one of the longest running films based on the duration of 162 minutes and tickets to the film sold out in many places across Asia on the day of release. North America just re-released the film in a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack for fans that want to go down memory lane with Haruhi and her SOS Brigade buddies all in high definition.

I'm going to be a hundred percent honesty like I am in all my posts, I never watched the original anime or read the manga. I am however familiar with the story because I read most of the light novels up until the time that they became very hard to find in bookstores. Why do I feel like people are judging me already before I even post this?[INSERT ME LAUGHING.] Anyways, I'm still pretty familiar with the storyline because I decided on a whim to read the first novel then became hooked on the series after that. The Disappearance is based off the plot of the forth novel of the series by the same name which I read already. So, I knew what was going to happen. It was the excitement to see what I read come to life that got me watching overall though. I'm not going to add to big of a plot summery in this post since I think most people know of this series. For those who don't know anything about the series, I'll sum it up really quickly….. Haruhi is the god of the world but she doesn't know this. She controls a lot of what happens around her and the SOS brigade I mentioned earlier are made up of a pretty boy Esper, a Time Traveler with big boobs, and a cute bookworm girl that acts like a living walking computer. They are exist to keep Haruhi in check basically. Other than them, Kyon is the first official member of the SOS brigade and the most ordinary member. Most of the series is narrated through his point of view. Imagine what the world would be like if Haruhi(God) vanishes, sending the world into disarray…. Or there might be more to the story….. The film covers this central conflict very well as Kyon is thrust into a dilemma that he didn't ask for at all. I'm not one for films that make you go out of your mind with frustration but you find that's the whole fun of watching this film. Kyon runs around while everyone thinks he's crazy until he finds clues to fix the problem. Poor Kyon is always left to clean up the mess. Anyone would be sick and tired of being run over time after time by miss Haruhi herself. Is a world without her truly ideal? Disappearance's plot unfolds in the same fashion that any drama related film would. Lots of character interaction mixed with enough action to keep you wanting more. I will admit that I feel asleep at the half and hour mark because I was sleepy and the events in this film are based solely on character interaction until towards to end(I woke back up.. don't worry.). Haruhi's story is also heavy infused with comedy that lightens up the mood even considering the film's undertone dark nature. Be careful what you wish for. I know I always restate this too but, People never know a good thing till it's gone. People always say what they think they feel in the moment. Humans don't actually know what they want till that moment you miss something. The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya plays around with a concept like this using unconventional methods. Haruhi and Kyon's story is very unconventional. You would of thought that Haruhi wrote the script of this film herself. She might actual be the secret author of the whole series!!! [*GASPS*LOOKS AROUND ROOM SUSPICIOUSLY!]

I noticed the way the sequences of animation flowed together perfectly with the soundtrack of the film. Whenever something that could spark emotion in the viewer happened on screen, The music was there to uplift that emotion in the upmost care. Certain aspects of visual also show a emotion struggle within the characters. Fear, angry, frustration, all could be seen building up based on the surrounding world that Kyon would imagine himself in during his hardest times. It actual made me feel a little uneasy because of how depressing some of  how the dark color clashing along with some of the character's facial expressions brought out a deep sadness.  Like I said above though, This film is all about character interactionS between the fan favorite, SOS Brigade. They are entertaining by themselves. That doesn't take away from the fact the the film is different genres mixed into one. Drama being the most noticeable however.

I defiantly recommend that people who don't know anything about the Haruhi Suzumiya series go look up related material before watching Disappearance. This film does not nor will it try to fill you in on what went on before the events of the film so you will be left in confusion. Fans of the original series will enjoy this film the most. There's also a spin off that's connected to this film but is a stand alone story. Check that out too if you want. Then tell me how it is in the comments since I never read or watched either anime or manga.

I first learned of this young singer after watching "If Cats Disappear from The World". Her first single was used as the ending theme song for the film.  Her vocals are very different from anything that you will hear in Japan so I searched for her other music after viewing the film. Since then, I've kept my eye on this 18 year old's releases until Inside Out hit stores in Japan.

Haruhi was born in California making her American by birth right. You should already know that her music will not be like what Japan is used to hearing. In fact, the album's lyrics were mostly written in English except for about two tracks. Someone made sure that they had complete control over what songs would be included on Inside Out. *cough* *cough* That would be HARUHI herself *cough* *cough*. Inside out's music is alternative rock for the main part. Its shocking how a teenage has more artistic musical direction than the artists that have been in the business for years in Japan. Alternative rock stems at the core of the album's tracks while Haruhi puts pen to paper to create haunting songs for listeners. Lyrics defiantly touch the emo style of writing in sync with her emotional depth as a performer. The band that supports Haruhi's talent play their instruments using precise precision. On one track the guitar will lay in await just playing above a whisper until the time is right to shine during a guitar solo. Piano adds that touch of emotion needed to bring out Haruhi's vocal tone even more too. She branches out to different musical styles while using a core folk sound. for example, She experience with a pop tech on sound on Nightmare that match with the pop culture thats currently popular in the Japanese music industry. There's no doubting that Inside Out is a very emotional album based on lyrics. Her Japanese songs give that same dark feeling that wants to make you cry. Inside out was the result of a singer that made an album that she had the desire to make. Some radio friendly tracks such as Banquet are nestled deep within the album but this album felt like a large journal entry to herself. Japanese people might not full understand passed the fact that the songs are in English, so they like it even if they don't speak the language. English speakers will however, either feel moved by her honesty or be turned off because this isn't the same generic music that hits the top of the on a daily basis.(Not saying that everything that's popular is bad but some of those idol groups though……)

Haruhi's voice does not sound like it came from an eighteen year old girl. Try more like a thirty year old woman... She sings in a very versatile way that's beyond her years.  Think American artists such as Tegan and Sara mets P!nk. I caught those vocal runs she was singing in the beginning of tracks like Round and Round. She got some soul somewhere deep down in her and I'm here for it. She has a big voice that's for sure. I like the tremble in her voice that comes out after she sings certain notes as well. It's very unscripted and raw.

Inside Out is an album that I would recommend to my friends that enjoy listening to Japanese music. Its the kind of record that you could play over and over again because she's a new breath of fresh air. I can't wait to see more of her progress as a musician in the near future. If she's this good now, imagine how good she will be when she actual turns thirty.[INSERT ME LAUGHING!]
