A boy with remarkable ability to remember every detail he sees has his father wrongfully accused of murder. Now, the boy must become a lawyer to prove his father's innocent. Each episode of this drama was very intense. I can't remember not one time where I wished I was somewhere else instead of watching. Yoon Hye Ho writes a script that has the right type of pacing and smart character development. Some Korean dramas drag it's plot in order to squeeze out the last few episodes to complete twenty episodes or sixteen episodes. They also use the same old K drama romantic acting thats in every other drama. You see it some much that it loses all it's emotional factor dies for long time K drama watchers. Remember choses to focus on the story while the romance is pushed to the background. This doesn't make the romance any less powerful because of the two characters being developed together into adulthood. A conflict comes up in every episode that makes you not want to stop watching also. I would go as far as to call this drama one of the king of cliffhangers. Almost all Korean dramas try to have a cliffhanger at the end of each their episodes. Only few succeed in real shock factor. The plot also points out the problem of corruption in South Korea's law system. Money gives a person power. Power gives a person rule over other people. The characters fighting for the truth to be revealed were met by people in the law and the police being controlled by a person of hight rank. They would lie and even kill to have things their way. Certain villain(?) characters were similar to pieces on a chessboard. Only being moved when someone controlled them to move. Viewers are really led to feel sorry for the father and son. The son works hard to present the truth but the situation never seems to favor him. All is lost for him throughout most of the drama instead. I always felt sadness, anger, and fear thanks to Remember's emotional storyline.
The performances in Remember made the drama the most enjoyable experience. Yoo Seung Ho plays a young man with the ability to remember everything he sees down to the little details. He has great chemistry with all of the other cast members as the leading man. He also acted out the different transitions that his character when through in a raw truthful manner. I've cried with his character each time he cried on screen. The scenes he acted with the actor playing his father are award winner worthy. Too much feels for this whole post to be honest. Namgung Min was the most outgoing actor in the whole drama. He plays our drama's villain who has a bad case of anger management issues. I hate his character to the deepest parts of my soul. My hate for him got so bad that I was like a tiger crouching down in the bushes waiting for Namgung Min's character's demise. The actions he did, such as rubbing his lip or eyebrow when he talked made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Invoking this much emotion in me just proves that he is a fantastic actor and I can't be more proud of the growth that he has had in his ability. Park Min Young is our leading lady that wasn't the stereotypical Korean drama female character that plays helpless victim. She actually does all she can to help set things right even if it means that she has to face danger countless times. Her character's romance with the male lead was simple to the point of being bittersweet. Romance was there without the script trying to force it out of the situation. My only qualm was the stereotypical Korean drama, girl has something on her lip and the guy wipes it off scene. Give it a rest script writers... I don't see how this can be romantic after seeing it unfold in A TON of other Korean drama. Park Sung Woong's character is basically Yoo Seung Ho's character's God father. He promises to look after Jin Woo until the skeletons in his closet get him caught up in the same corruption that made Jin Woo's father out to be a murder. His character is very charismatic in his actions on screen which makes him fun to watch. I also enjoyed the way he spoke Korean with a kind of county accent and pronunciation. In my fondness for his character, came a strong feeling of annoyance too. His character would have got hit in the face a few times if I was involved because of all the foolishness he put himself and Jin Woo through. Jung Hye Seung had enough screen time to not be considered a background prop. I can "remember" her but she didn't stand out much to me. It didn't help that she wasn't on screen for a good duration of the drama after the opening episodes. I though that they would expand her character more. All of the costars did amazing in their performances as well. Remember would not have been such a solid drama if everyone didn't put hundred percent into their acting.
I can't recall too well the style that Remember was shot in. Couldn't have been anything too special. I would have remembered if it had been. Nothing too fancy except for your normal K drama shooting style. That was all this drama needed anyway.
An old time Korean drama watcher like myself really enjoy dramas like Remember. These type of dramas remind me of the Korean dramas that came out in the early 2000s. Korean dramas back then were more about having a storyline that excites for the viewer for the whole drama. Unlike in this era, where a good amount(not all) of Korean dramas are about throwing any old script together without a second thought.
