WINNER(위너)- FATE NUMBER FOR Single Thoughts(K-pop)

Track List:
01. REALLY REALLY
02. FOOL

WINNER is back with a new single thats actually a good tune. I almost forgot about WINNER honestly. The lead single titled REALLY REALY is a music number perfect for the spring and coming summer season. It's typical beat has a formation around the vocal melody that's very catchy. REALLY REALLY's chorus is quite simple but the beat along with repetition of the english word really keeps the track fresh in one's mind. In fact, this song doesn't sound like a normal Kpop song that you would hear in Korea. It feels very American and would fit perfectly on American radio. I just don't know how many more songs these boys can write about overly liking members of the opposite sex. At lest we get a new spin on the same concept of lyrics with each new release. Fool sounds all the other ballads that YG entertainment has been releasing over the past few years. After BigBang came out with BaeBae and Loser, A lot of the later released ballads sang by male artists under YG Entertainment were like mini versions of those songs. What I do notice about this new YG ballad style is how the instrumentals go through different phases of transition during the duration of the song. For example, Fool begins with a simple piano accompaniment that plays for a little while. A pop beat soon creeps in to join the piano then later your greeted by a band of mild playing guitars and a drum. Someone also starts playing a flute toward the midpoint of the song leading to the last few minutes. Fool did the same formula that REALLY REALLY used; English phrasing. Using English in Kpop songs is a powerful weapon when used the correct way. Both languages still have to flow together though. Even if there's listeners who understand only English or only Korean. I speak both languages so yeah..... Some kpop songs make the mistake of using incorrect english that doesn't go with the meaning of the song in Korean. It happens sometimes and I don't hold it against the artists. I'm not the English Kpop police.

WINNER's big strength lies in how different each of the boys sound vocally. One of the boys doesn't have a voice that fits pop music at all. His vocal quality is a better fit for rock/alternative.  They make it work though. This makes them stand out from other kpop groups vocally too.

I 100% love this single. REALLY REALLY was produced thoughtful with WINNER in mind and the music video fits the song perfectly. I don't watch Kpop music videos often so this means a lot coming from me.
