10cm is a South Korean band that debuted on the music indie scene in 2009. The band was made up of two guys until earlier this summer. One of the members decided to withdraw from the group due to drug use. His absence had me wondering where he went. After all, 10cm has been making listeners feel lucky to have them as musicians for awhile now. They currently have released four albums along with many singles and drama OSTs.

4.0 was a great album. I'm just going to get right to the point of the matter this time around too. Why was 4.0 such a good album? That's a good question. I would say because "the boys" or now, just "the guy" knows how to stay in his own lane. Kwon Jung Yeol has the main idea down about what makes his music so great to 10cm's fanbase. He stays in his own lane that he created. Paving the street in this lane and making sure that the street contains lane markers so listeners won't crash into each other while in their lane. He doesn't try to be a musician cut out of plastic for more fame. He sticks to being himself. There's nothing too different about 10cm music on 4.0 unless you want to count the increase in English lyrics. Tracks are also bigger in musical progression causing you as the listener to remember what you heard hours after the fact. 4.0 just feels like it's an album that was meant to be. You can start from the first track, then listen all the way through to the last track without 4.0 coming off as a sloppy thrown together album. 10cm is usually acoustic rock mixed in sync to a band of piano, drums, and trumpets. This line up of instruments was kept for the production of 4.0 respectively. The whole album was to my liking as a result.

Jung Yeol sings the same way he always has. One big change is that his voice grew stronger since the last album. I noticed that he's approaching his higher notes with more ease than before. Almost in a soulful gracefulness. Give him a guitar to accompany him and he creates magic. I hope that Yoon Cheol Jong comes back to the band someday. I'm still so used to using "they" when referring to 10cm.

Well, enough raving about this album. Its a good listen for those who have been long time fans or first time listeners. 10cm's music always reminds me of coffeeshops…… Anyway, check out 10cm's music if you want. HAPPY LISTENING!
