Aimyong has returned with a new album like I knew that she would. I just didn't know when actually. She been releasing singles since the end of last year and made a surprise appearance on Radwimp's newest album. Her last album also did very well album sales wise, placing in the top ten for that week. Momentary Sixth Sense isn't a huge departure from the style she showcased on her last album. If anything, she's becoming more adaptive to what's popular to Japan while being who she was before the fame. This album showed me that Aimyong has always had good music. She doesn't have the same solid songs as her last album but this album feels like a follow up to be proud of. I notice the cute side she adds in her music when she strums on her guitar and sings. these dynamics in her musical production comes from bells, piano, and the xylophone. Even she sings about a person dying while people watch, she still manages to have a strong presence that's a little cute. Aiming wouldn't be what Japan would typically call the "cutest" female singer out there. Many Japanese people love their singers to be attractive. Both men and women subscribe to looks mattering on a mainstream level, so its great to see a female singer being popular for her music only. Hence why she's never on the cover of her albums. What can be said without a doubt is that she sings a hundred times better than a lot of the other guitar playing female singers that partly relay on looks. That's a fact. I enjoy most of what she's released. Let's hope she doesn't mess up her career by conforming completely to being cutesy. Her music wouldn't be as good and I know it's going to mess her up big time.
Aimyong is so different in the way she approaches writing her songs. Some of her lyrics are so dark that it's poetic emotion. It's easy to put her off as another typical Jpop singer until you listen to her albums. I had to go back and listen to her older stuff just for fun.
