This post probably won't be extra long. I'm writing this going off of little to no information about this singer. Expect for the fact that he seems to be associated with a Chinese singing competition in China(What Chinese singer isn't?). His name is Wen Han Long and I should be slapped for waiting so long to talk about his music(This album came out in July..).  I believe True Color is his first album. I could be wrong though. Forgive my stupid foreigner cluelessness.

True Color contains all the components to be a ballad album. The motion of the music makes the listener picture middle aged women sitting in a rocker as they rock back and forth to the rhythm of Long's sweet artistry. First though that popped into my head was how the instrumentals sounded so traditional Chinese. More like something that would come out of the mountains of mainland China. Long combats the idea of sticking to the old traditional "value only" rule by strictly adding rock and pop elements to his sound. Instruments for production range from Chinese violins with flutes to chimes and piano. True Color literally fits well with a Chinese historical drama as a soundtrack until the last two tracks throw away the traditional sound completely. Then all that's left is pop rock to shine alone. These tracks don't feel disjointed from the rest of the album due to the simple fact that Long never musically steps into Chinese traditional music fully.  He has producers to create just enough of a sole chemistry between the three types of music to satisfy fans of each style. I'm always delighted to hear traditional music of a country in their mainstream pop culture's music whether it's Japan, Korea, or China. Chinese traditional music has a distinct quality to it that's just everything China inspires to be.

Wen Han Long sings like those singers that you will find in the Karaoke bar in China. Just more professionally in a sense. Does anyone notice that most people in China can sing somewhat? Most people can at least hold a note because singing is such a huge part of the culture. Wen Han Long's voice represents this to me.

True Color can be a nice little listening past time if your interested in different kinds of music. I listened to this simply to broaden my horizon about different music. You can't ever learn too much in life.
